Apology letters

Apology letters
Writing personal apology letters is one of the most difficult tasks. You have upset or offended your Dad or your Mom, your wife or husband, your girlfriend or boyfriend and you need to make amends. You might also find yourself in the situation where you need to extend your sincere apologies to your best friend or a close acquaintance.

Where do you start?
Well, the good news is that you have already begun - you have reached this article. You can save a relationship by sending a letter saying you're sorry instead of allowing the situation to 'snowball' out of control. At the very least, sincere, polite and meaningful  apology letters will enable you to reflect positive aspects of your character and upbringing. If your intent is sincere, and the remorse heartfelt, some wounds can be healed by expressing your sincere apologies.

Some things to consider when writing apology letters
We hope that our suggestions in this article will result in your apology being accepted. Some important things to consider when writing personal apology letters to close members of the family or friends are:

Apologise as soon as possible, if you leave a situation for too long it is even more difficult to say sorry or accept and apology - but remember the saying "better late than never..."
Put yourself in the other person’s shoes – how would you be feeling?
Start the letter extending your sincere apologies and say exactly what you are apologising for
Try to give a reason for what occurred, but don't make it an excuse
Always acknowledge the feelings of the other person
Accept full responsibility for what has happened
Do not blame the other person when you offer your sincere apologies
Promise that you will never repeat your mistake
Ask if they will give you another chance and the opportunity to prove yourself
Say that you will call them shortly to apologise in person
